Erie has gone a perfect 3-0 against Monarch recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will face off against the Coyotes at 4:30 p.m. Erie will be strutting in after a win while Monarch will be coming in after a defeat.
Erie came out on top against Longmont on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Tigers have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Tellena Willert looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sydnie Snook was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelen Heer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Erie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. The last time their OBP was this high was back in August.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Monarch's offense. They lost 14-0 to Broomfield last Thursday. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Erie is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Monarch, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Erie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Monarch struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Erie's way against Monarch in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as Erie made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
