Chavez is 10-0 against Delano since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chavez Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Delano Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Chavez focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Wednesday.
Chavez scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 70-38 win over McFarland. The victory was just what Chavez needed coming off of a 62-31 loss in their prior contest.
Chavez had a senior duo take command as Chloe Lopez scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds and Hannah Diaz scored 16 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Diaz posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Ramos, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Delano's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 43-29 fall against Kennedy. Delano has not had much luck with Kennedy recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Chavez is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for Delano, they dropped their record down to 5-15 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Chavez against Delano in their previous meeting on January 8th as the squad secured a 63-21 win. Will Chavez repeat their success, or does Delano have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
