Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Park Tigers vs. Cinco Ranch Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cypress Park Tigers face off against the Cinco Ranch Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on Friday... Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Cypress Park didn't have too much trouble with Cypress Springs as they won 63-48. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Cypress Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angelo Reyes, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 18 points. With that strong performance, Reyes is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Augmon, who went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Cinco Ranch ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Mayde Creek by a score of 61-54. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Rams are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cypress Park pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Cinco Ranch, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Cypress Park and Cinco Ranch were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2019, but Cypress Park came up empty-handed after a 93-92 loss. Thankfully for Cypress Park, Jayden Collymore (who went 13 of 22 on his way to 35 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
