Stockdale is 9-1 against Garces Memorial since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Stockdale's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Garces Memorial's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Stockdale took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Frontier by a score of 9-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Gabriel Borja looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Stockdale got a massive performance out of Charlie Ryder, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Brayden Gutierrez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Stockdale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Garces Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Centennial.
Gavin Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Dayne August also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Stockdale's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Garces Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Stockdale hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Garces Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Stockdale came out on top in a nail-biter against Garces Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
