The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Magnolia Science Academy in their matchups with Southlands Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Magnolia Science Academy had strong showings from Elvira Chavez Trujillo, who scored eight points, and Karla Villaverde, who scored eight points. That was a full 44.4% of Magnolia Science Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Avalon earned a 42-32 victory over The Webb Schools on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Avalon.
Magnolia Science Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Avalon, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.
Magnolia Science Academy was taken down by Avalon 58-8 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Magnolia Science Academy was down 38-6.
