Basketball Recap: Oxnard Victorious

Oxnard's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They slipped by the Thousand Oaks Lancers 37-36. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Yellowjackets also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.

Oxnard had a senior duo take command as Sienna Angell went 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points and seven rebounds and Kayla Lumas posted 16 points. That's the most boards Angell has posted since back in January of 2024. Sofia Salgado was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Seeger, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Seeger is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dori Lawrence, who put up six points along with seven boards and three steals.

Oxnard has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Thousand Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Oxnard didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-55 win against Canyon on the 27th. As for Thousand Oaks, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 95-11 victory against Royal on the 2nd.
