The Washington Prexies waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Chartiers-Houston with a 42-37 victory. For Washington, this counts as revenge for the 64-40 loss the Buccaneers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Washington was led to victory by Kaprice Johnson and Olivia Woods. Johnson scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three steals, while Woods scored 13 points along with five steals. Woods has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyndra Wynn, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Chartiers-Houston's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Capozzoli, who scored 18 points. Amelia Brose was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Washington pushed their record up to 10-8 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Chartiers-Houston, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.
Washington will head out on the road to square off against the Mighty Mikes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chartiers-Houston, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. Sto-Rox has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27.
