The Perkiomen Valley Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 29 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 70-41 victory over Horizon on the road. Given Perkiomen Valley's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in Pennsylvania, while Horizon is ranked 135th in Florida), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Quinn Boettinger was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Bacani, who scored 14 points.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sienna Astorino, who scored 14 points. Astorino scored a full 34.1% of Horizon's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Zoe Corjay was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Perkiomen Valley's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Horizon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Perkiomen Valley and Norristown will face off at 6:45 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Horizon, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Windermere at 5:30 p.m. Windermere has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 6.
