Archbishop Carroll is 9-0 against St. Hubert Catholic for Girls since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Archbishop Carroll's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayla Eberz, who posted 30 points. Eberz continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Alexis Eberz was another key player, putting up 19 points.
Meanwhile, St. Hubert Catholic for Girls took a blow against Cardinal O'Hara on Thursday, falling 51-22. While losing is never fun, St. Hubert Catholic for Girls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Cardinal O'Hara is ranked 24th).
Archbishop Carroll will have to keep a close watch on Luca D'Andrea and Saige Primavera, a pair of players who had a big impact on St. Hubert Catholic for Girls' prior game. D'Andrea put up ten points and six rebounds, while Primavera had eight points and eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, St. Hubert Catholic for Girls smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.
Archbishop Carroll now has a winning record of 7-6. As for St. Hubert Catholic for Girls, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.
Tuesday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Eberz and D'Andrea. Eberz has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 15.5 points. For her part, D'Andrea has averaged 10.8 points, 1.8 blocks, and 2.8 steals.
Everything came up roses for Archbishop Carroll against St. Hubert Catholic for Girls in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 57-25 victory. In that match, Archbishop Carroll amassed a halftime lead of 30-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
