Baseball Recap: Mesa Verde Wins Going Away Against San Juan

Mesa Verde won the last time they faced San Juan and things went their way on Thursday too. Mesa Verde put the hurt on San Juan with a sharp 17-6 victory. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Mason Nelson was a standout: he scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Marco Garcia Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Mesa Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.

Mesa Verde's record now sits at 12-3. As for San Juan, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa Verde will square off against Valley Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for San Juan, they will be playing at home against Vacaville Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vacaville Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something San Juan surely won't give up without a fight.
