Tell City hit Pike Central with a seven-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers came up short against the Marksmen, falling 14-4. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Nate Davis was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Washington entered their tilt with South Spencer on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 9-3 victory. With that win, the Hatchets brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Alton Ostby was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples and three RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brody Clark was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
Washington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive games.
Pike Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Washington, their record is now 13-9.
