The Corning Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They fell 36-28 to Las Plumas. Corning has not had much luck with Las Plumas recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Las Plumas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Skylar Lewallen out in front who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Olivares, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Corning bumped their record down to 1-18 with that loss, which was their 12th straight at home. As for Las Plumas, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corning will face off against Orland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Orland and Corning are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Las Plumas, they will head out on the road to square off against Gridley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gridley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 last Tuesday.
