Basketball Recap: Desert Christian Snags 12th Victory in Last 13 Games

Desert Christian proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 28) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-52 victory over The Gregory School Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Hawks since November 22, 2017.

It was another big night for Tyson Dobbins, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Fernando Ayala was another key player, putting up nine points.

The Gregory School's loss came despite strong showings from Ben Head and Devin Dawson. Head posted 13 points, while Dawson put up 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chase Butler, who earned five points and five boards.

Desert Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for The Gregory School, their defeat ended an 18-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-9.

Desert Christian has already played their next contest, a 63-52 victory against Willcox on the 30th. As for The Gregory School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-40 loss against Baboquivari on the 29th.
