The New Covenant Academy Warriors lost against the Niangua Cardinals back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. New Covenant Academy was outmatched by the Cardinals on the road and fell 72-38. New Covenant Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-14.
Niangua's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanier Dunn, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Dunn continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Clayton Henderson, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
New Covenant Academy's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Niangua, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Covenant Academy will challenge the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Verona is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Niangua, they will head out on the road to take on the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fair Play will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 514th, while the Cardinals are ranked 92nd).
