St. Bernard and Arcata are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The St. Bernard's Crusaders will square off against the Arcata Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Bernard's is looking to tack on another W to their 11-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
St. Bernard's stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Trinity on the road to the tune of 52-15. With St. Bernard's ahead 26-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.
St. Bernard's got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Laila Florvilus out in front who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Shanahan, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Arcata beat McKinleyville 49-43 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Arcata.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arcata to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mae Wolford, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Nora Talty was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
St. Bernard's has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Arcata, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
St. Bernard's was able to grind out a solid win over Arcata in their previous matchup back in January, winning 49-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Bernard's since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
