The Mercer County Golden Eagles came tearing into Friday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Galva 63-35 at home. Mercer County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Despite the loss, Galva saw an underclassman step up: Blake Stahl scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Stahl has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cyrus Lilly, who scored four points along with nine rebounds.
Mercer County is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. As for Galva, they dropped their record down to 8-19 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
