The Linfield Christian Lions will take on the Heritage Patriots in a tournament on Saturday. Linfield Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Heritage will be up against a hot Linfield Christian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Linfield Christian blew past West Valley 11-0 on Thursday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Connor Woulf
02/27/25 @ West Valley | 4 |
03/25/24 @ Rancho Christian | 2 |
02/17/24 vs Xavier Prep | 2 |
02/22/25 vs Bloomington | 1 |
02/18/25 vs Hemet | 1 |
Connor Woulf was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Luke Waddell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Linfield Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Valley only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Heritage entered their matchup against Indio on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Heritage took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indio. The loss was the Patriots' first of the season.
Heritage also got a good showing from Jacob Ortiz, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ortiz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brenton Jackson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Jackson is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stole at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Joe Estrada also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Heritage fell to 5-1. As for Linfield Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0-1.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Linfield Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .415. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .384. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Linfield Christian skirted past Heritage 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Linfield Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
