Last Wednesday, Austin ended up a good deal behind Coudersport and lost 52-36.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Port Allegany on the road against Galeton on Wednesday as the team secured a 59-7 win. Given Port Allegany's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Galeton is ranked 715th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Port Allegany's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kayleigha Dowell, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Ella Moses, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Moses is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Renner, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Austin's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Port Allegany, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Austin strolled past Port Allegany in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 45-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Austin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
