The Holy Redeemer Royals waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. Everything went their way against Marian Catholic as Holy Redeemer made off with a 71-45 win. Holy Redeemer's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Several Marian Catholic players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Frankie Martinelli, who scored 17 points along with two steals and two blocks. Martinelli is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Fritz, who scored 11 points.
Marian Catholic struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Holy Redeemer's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Marian Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 18-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Redeemer will square off against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Greater Nanticoke Area will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Royals are ranked 108th). As for Marian Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against the Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
