Softball Recap: Delta Has No Trouble Against Meeker

Delta lost to Meeker back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Cowboys. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Lily Gallegos made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Jazlyn Naranjo and Jaidyn Robinson did most of the damage at the plate: Naranjo went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Robinson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That triple was Naranjo's first of the season. Olivia Hines was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Delta now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Meeker, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Delta will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cowboys: the pair will be back at it again later today.
