Softball Recap: Columbine Extends Winning Streak to Five

Columbine waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Bear Creek Bears with a sharp 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Columbine got a great performance from Karter Pascavis as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, Pascavis posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in August.

At the plate, Nina Vargas was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mason Abraham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Columbine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bear Creek only posted an OBP of .286.

Columbine's record is now 17-5. As for Bear Creek, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-18.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbine will host Lakewood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.68 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bear Creek, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Chatfield at 4:00 p.m.
