Softball Recap: Grovetown Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Grovetown came out on top against South Gwinnett on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Warriors blew past the Comets 12-1. Considering the Warriors have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Josalyn Sergent was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 14 games. Zah'Rya Lawson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Grovetown is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for South Gwinnett, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Grovetown will take on rival Grayson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, South Gwinnett is set to square off against their familiar foe Rockdale County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
