The Cornerstone Christian Cougars will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Priory Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, everything came up roses for Cornerstone Christian on the road against Contra Costa Christian as the team secured a 74-29 win. Given Cornerstone Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Contra Costa Christian is ranked 818th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cornerstone Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mecca Alexander, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and three steals. The match was Alexander's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Pamela-Joyce Allen was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Priory blew past Menlo School, posting a 71-33 win on the road.
Cornerstone Christian pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Priory, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Cornerstone Christian and Priory were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January, but Cornerstone Christian came up empty-handed after a 52-51 defeat. Can Cornerstone Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
