Basketball Recap: Kylie Siket and Alea Porter Secure Win for Schuylkill Haven

Schuylkill Haven's game on Monday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 48-37 victory over the Boyertown Bears. Given the Hurricanes' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Bears are ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Schuylkill Haven was led to victory by Alea Porter and Kylie Siket. Porter posted 20 points, while Siket scored 12 points. The dominant performance gave Siket a new career-high in points.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madelyn Weaver, who put up 17 points and six steals. That was a full 45.9% of Boyertown's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Rhian Harper, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 boards.

Schuylkill Haven pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Boyertown, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Schuylkill Haven will host Marian Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marian Catholic will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Schuylkill Haven surely won't give up without a fight. As for Boyertown, they will venture away from home to challenge Spring-Ford at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
