After flying high against the North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators last Thursday, the Mayer Wildcats came back down to earth. Mayer was outmatched by North Valley Christian Academy on the road and fell 50-19. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mayer in their matchups with North Valley Christian Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Mayer still got an impressive performance from Danni McCann, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That was a full 63.2% of Mayer's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Mayer struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Kalina Santor continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Valley Christian Academy, scoring 20 points along with nine steals. Santor has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 16 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Triniti Terracciano, who scored ten points along with eight steals.
Mayer has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9-1 record this season. As for North Valley Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Mayer won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against San Pasqual Valley at 4:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for North Valley Christian Academy, North Valley Christian Academy and Antelope will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Antelope comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
