Make it nine blowout wins for the French Settlement Lions this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Independence 86-34 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win French Settlement has managed all season.
Leading French Settlement to victory were Brady Andrews and Mason Hill. Andrews scored eight points along with nine rebounds and six assists, while Hill scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Hill hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Trevor McMorris was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
French Settlement pushed their record up to 22-3 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points per game. As for Independence, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
French Settlement will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against St. Helena College and Career Academy at 7:30 p.m. St. Helena College and Career Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while French Settlement is ranked 51st). As for Independence, they will head out on the road to challenge Northlake Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
