After flying high against the Blue Ridge Early College Bobcats on Thursday, the Carolina Day Wildcats came back down to earth. Carolina Day fell 46-39 to The Master's Academy on Friday. While losing is never fun, Carolina Day can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while The Master's Academy is ranked 71st).
Loss or not, Carolina Day got some senior leadership from Lily Everette who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds and Taylor Williams who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Everette scored a full 30.8% of Carolina Day's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Carolina Day were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as The Master's Academy only pulled down 28.
It was another big night for Faith Yelton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds for The Master's Academy. The match was Yelton's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Hannah Yelton was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Carolina Day's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for The Master's Academy, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Carolina Day will play host again and welcome Mount Pisgah Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for The Master's Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
