West Philadelphia and Roxborough are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The West Philadelphia Speedboys will head out on the road to face off against the Roxborough Wolves at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully West Philadelphia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
West Philadelphia took care of business in their home opener (and then some). They blew past Samuel Fels, posting a 44-14 victory at home.
Among those leading the charge was Devin Sadat, who scored 12 points along with 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Victoria Williams, who scored 5 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Roxborough earned a 31-19 victory over Girard Academic Music Program on Wednesday. The victory was just what Roxborough needed coming off of a 58-28 loss in their prior matchup.
Roxborough can attribute much of their success to JennyLee Perez, who scored 14 points, and Siaharr Simmons, who scored 11 points along with 6 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Simmons has scored at least 25% of Roxborough's points.
West Philadelphia's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Roxborough, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Things could have been worse for West Philadelphia, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 32-16 loss to Roxborough in their previous matchup back in January. Can West Philadelphia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
