Melrose has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Logan Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
A well-balanced attack led Melrose over the Bronchos in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Melrose blew the Bronchos out of the water with a 70-26 final score. Melrose pushed the score to 59-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bronchos had no chance of recovering from.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Logan's strategy against the Coyotes on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Logan blew the Coyotes out of the water with a 63-23 final score. The win was just what Logan needed coming off of a 76-52 loss in their prior game.
Logan found their leader in underclassman Mason Wallin, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Wallin has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Bruhn, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Melrose's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. As for Logan, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.
Melrose won a contest that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January, slipping by the Longhorns 57-56. Will Melrose repeat their success, or do the Longhorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
