Elgin is 1-8 against North Union since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Elgin Comets will head out on the road to take on the North Union Wildcats at 2:30 p.m. Hopefully Elgin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.

Samantha Girton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wall, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, North Union put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northwestern 64-17 at home. Given North Union's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while Northwestern is ranked 693rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elgin's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for North Union, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.
Elgin was dealt a bruising 45-12 loss at the hands of North Union in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Elgin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
