The Munster Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Kankakee Valley with a sharp 44-21 win on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Munster sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Munster found their leader in underclassman Gracyn Gilliard, who scored 32 points along with five steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Gilliard has scored at least 25% of Munster's points. Nina Garner was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Munster is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Kankakee Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Munster's road trip will continue as they head out to face Washington Township at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Washington Township will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Kankakee Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Kankakee Valley in Indiana (Lake Central is ranked fifth, while Kankakee Valley is ranked 77th).
