The Wayne County War Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down East Central 67-51. Given Wayne County's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while East Central is ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cartavious Myers, who scored 18 points. The contest was Myers' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Porter Martin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Wayne County's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for East Central, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Wayne County will look to defend their home court on Friday against Stone at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Stone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday. As for East Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Laurel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
