The Mt. Eden Monarchs suffered their biggest loss since December 18, 2023 on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 67-23 loss at the hands of Ygnacio Valley. Mt. Eden was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-10.
It was another big night for Sa'rye Starks, who scored 34 points along with six steals and five assists for Ygnacio Valley. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Starks has scored at least a third of Ygnacio Valley's points. Another player making a difference was K'Si Brooks, who scored 12 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
Mt. Eden's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Ygnacio Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Eden won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Piedmont at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Piedmont will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Ygnacio Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Concord at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Concord is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
