The Santana Sultans suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against West Hills, falling 62-11. Santana was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-6.
Irma Carreno was Santana's leading scorer, having posted four points.
Leading West Hills to victory were Ava Kinser and Jordan Dillon. Kinser scored 18 points along with six steals, while Dillon scored 15 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kinser scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Amber Froehlich, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Santana has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for West Hills, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.
Santana will be playing at home against Holtville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Holtville and seven for Santana. West Hills won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calexico at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th.
