Baseball Recap: Camarillo Wins Going Away Against Fillmore

Camarillo had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Fillmore on Saturday. The Scorpions blew past the Flashes 10-1. The match marked the Scorpions' most dominant win of the season.

Luc Ross looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Camarillo got a massive performance out of Brayden Smith, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Smith a new career-high. Ryder Morehouse was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Camarillo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Camarillo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fillmore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Camarillo will welcome Moorpark at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Musketeers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Scorpions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fillmore, they will head out on the road to face off against Malibu at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
