Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Villa Park). They breezed by the Irvine Vaqueros to the tune of 70-38 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Spartans who have now won three contests in a row.

Villa Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Sturdivant, who went 6 of 8 on her way to 15 points and three steals. That's the most points Sturdivant has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Martinez, who posted ten points along with six boards and three steals.

Villa Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Villa Park's record is now 13-3. As for Irvine, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Villa Park won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against California at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Irvine, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Newport Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
