The Sonora Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Lathrop by a score of 51-38. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post nine more assists than your opponent, as Sonora did.
It was another big night for Adeline Hanson, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Faught, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Despite the defeat, Lathrop saw an underclassman step up: Shakara Porter scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Porter scored a full 34.2% of Lathrop's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tatiana Lowery, who scored 11 points.
Sonora now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Lathrop, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Sonora and Ripon Christian will round out the year against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. As for Lathrop, they will take on Oakdale at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
