It was a good run, but The Mercer Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 22-8 bruising from Cambridge Springs. Mercer has struggled against Cambridge Springs recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Preston Gorton was his usual excellent self, rushing for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Mercer's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Cambridge Springs, their victory was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-1.
Mercer will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Cochranton at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Cochranton is ranked 473rd, while Mercer is ranked 479th). As for Cambridge Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Union City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union City is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
