The Sylmar Spartans suffered their biggest defeat since January 5th on Saturday. Their tough 67-41 defeat to Crossroads might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Sylmar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while Crossroads is ranked 228th).
When it comes to explaining why Sylmar lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mia Ceja. Despite the final result, she scored 28 points. Another player making a difference was Isabella Gonzalez, who scored eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Sylmar and nudges their season record down to 13-7. As for Crossroads, their win bumped their record up to 16-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sylmar on the road again on Wednesday and play against Canoga Park at 4:30 p.m. on January 31st. Canoga Park is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Crossroads, they will head out on the road to take on Viewpoint at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
