The Hughesville Spartans will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Montoursville Warriors at 1:30 p.m. on December 23rd. Hughesville will be strutting in after a win while Montoursville will be coming in after a loss.
On Wednesday, Hughesville earned a 55-48 victory over Shikellamy.
Hughesville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Snyder led the charge by scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Snyder's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Maddie Smith, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Montoursville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Jersey Shore by a score of 52-50.
Hughesville pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Montoursville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Hughesville strolled past Montoursville when the teams last played back in January of 2022 by a score of 43-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hughesville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
