Basketball Recap: Willows Piles Up the Points Against Tulelake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Willows). They breezed by the Tulelake Honkers to the tune of 50-21 on Friday. Willows has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Tulelake, too.

Willows was led to victory by Karla DiMaggio and Annalise Figueroa. DiMaggio posted 13 points and five rebounds, while Figueroa earned 12 points. Another player making a difference was Ytzel Plaza, who had eight points and five rebounds.

Several Honkers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was McKenna Fine, who posted six points. What's more, Fine also racked up two steals, the most she's had since back in January.

Willows' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Tulelake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Willows wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-48 victory against Modoc on the 14th. As for Tulelake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-29 defeat against Hayfork on the 14th.
