The Millikan Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the Lakewood Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lakewood's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Millikan hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Millikan never let Cabrillo get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Wednesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Austin Brett looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ben Keisler and Shane Wally did most of the damage at the plate: Keisler went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Wally went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Keisler a new career-high. Adrian Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
Millikan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lakewood got the win against Jordan on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-0.
Hunter Gershen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lakewood is 2-1 when Gershen allowstwo or fewer hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Gershen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Lathan Rivas looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lakewood is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Nate Gallegos was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Anthony Rueda was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Millikan pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lakewood, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Millikan took their win against Lakewood when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. Will Millikan repeat their success, or does Lakewood has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
