If the Charleroi Cougars were feeling good off their 69-46 takedown of the West Greene Pioneers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Charleroi ended up on the wrong side of a rough 68-45 walloping at the hands of the Falcons on Monday. If Charleroi was looking for revenge after losing 62-47 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Carroto, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Ella Sypolt, who scored 12 points.
Charleroi's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Brownsville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Charleroi has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. McGuffey is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Brownsville, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Waynesburg Central is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
