The Clearfield Bison will be playing at home against the Bedford Bisons at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clearfield has three straight victories, Bedford has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Clearfield has not done well against Penns Valley Area recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Clearfield managed a 64-58 victory over Penns Valley Area. With that win, Clearfield brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clearfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cayleigh Walker, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walker has scored all season. Hannah Glunt was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds.
Bedford suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 63-35 loss at the hands of Bishop McCort. Bedford was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-16.
Despite the loss, Bedford saw an underclassman step up: Rebekah Costal scored 13 points. That was a full 37.1% of Bedford's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Mcdevitt, who scored nine points.
Clearfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Bedford, they bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Clearfield hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 50.6 points per game. It's a different story for Bedford, though, as they've been averaging only 33.9 points per game. The only thing between Clearfield and another offensive beatdown is Bedford.
