If the Orcutt Academy Spartans were feeling good off their 58-33 takedown of the Santa Barbara Dons on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Orcutt Academy suffered a tough 63-37 defeat at the hands of Piedmont on Saturday. Orcutt Academy lost against Piedmont in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-34 score last time.
Orcutt Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nicole Ante, who scored 6 points along with 10 rebounds. Elizabeth Johnson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Orcutt Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Piedmont, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Orcutt Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hart at 1:30 p.m. on December 9th. Piedmont will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Berkeley at 5:00 p.m. on December 13th.
