Hiram hasn't had much luck against Cartersville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hornets will take on the Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hiram is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over McEachern on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Sophie Epperson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Hiram got a massive performance out of Marlee Greathouse, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Greathouse has posted since back in August. Peyton Darrisaw also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Allatoona typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Cartersville proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Buccaneers.
Presley Crabbe looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sam Porter, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Lakiaya Banks, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-15. As for Cartersville, their record is now 23-2.
Hiram might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Cartersville in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
