The Advanced Math & Science Academy Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Tahanto Regional Stags at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Advanced Math & Science Academy fell victim to Hudson and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Matt Hassapes was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in April.
At the plate, Advanced Math & Science Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Laidley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Tahanto Regional lost a heartbreaker to West Boylston when they met back in May of 2025, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. The Stags lost 8-2 to the Lions. The defeat continues a trend for the Stags in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost four in a row.
Luke Stevens made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He has become a key player for Tahanto Regional: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-8 otherwise.
Tahanto Regional's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Advanced Math & Science Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Advanced Math & Science Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tahanto Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Advanced Math & Science Academy couldn't quite get it done against Tahanto Regional in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 as they fell 8-3. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
