Baseball Recap: Northside Victorious

While Northside didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Hawkinsville Red Devils on Wednesday. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 victory the Red Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Taylor Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Caden Nelson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Jeremy Snelling also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Northside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .535 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Northside's record now sits at 7-2. As for Hawkinsville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will face off against Taylor County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hawkinsville, they will take on Treutlen at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Red Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
