After five games on the road, West Charlotte is heading back home. They will take on the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. West Charlotte has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
West Charlotte scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mallard Creek and snuck past 85-82. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Damani Day and Langston Boyd. Day had a great game and went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 1 assists. Meanwhile, Boyd was balling out in the loss, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg struggled with assists on Friday (Chambers had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. West Mecklenburg was beaten by Chambers 84-31. West Mecklenburg has not had much luck with Chambers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the loss, West Mecklenburg saw an underclassman step up: Josiah Pratt scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
West Charlotte now has a winning record of 3-2. As for West Mecklenburg, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: West Charlotte have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 44.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like West Mecklenburg struggles in that department as they've made 37.2% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for West Charlotte against West Mecklenburg when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 63-22 win. With West Charlotte ahead 37-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
