Basketball Recap: Clare Valentine and Ree Ree Davis Secure Win for Scripps Ranch

There's no place like home for Scripps Ranch, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 49-41 win over the Mira Mesa Marauders on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-47 back in January.

Leading Scripps Ranch to victory were Ree Ree Davis and Clare Valentine. Davis went 8 of 13 on her way to 21 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds, while Valentine posted 18 points and six boards. Valentine's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Katrina Purcell, who earned four points along with seven boards and seven blocks.

Defeat or not, Mira Mesa got some senior leadership from Ivorii Seals and Alyssa Otero. Seals dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Otero scored 16 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Seals has posted since back in December of 2023.

Scripps Ranch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Mira Mesa, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.

Scripps Ranch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-42 victory against Montgomery on the 1st. As for Mira Mesa, they will face off against Cathedral Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
